Going into Summer 2003, I'm happy to be coaching the Fullerton College
Jazz Band directed by Dr. Greg Woll for their upcoming CD recording.
I am working mostly with the rhythm section in these pictures but will
be working more with the horn players going into the last days of my workshop
with
the college band.
.
Drums and bass parts played correctly provide foundation for cool piano,
keyboard, and electric guitar voicings. Percussion parts add
a lot when executed correctly.
After I got all the parts going with the musicians, I checked out the coolness
of the groove.
Dr. Woll checks on some of the parts I created to work with how the
new groove is going to fit with the horn players.
FAST FORWARD:
Once we got the grooves and the tunes together and sounding good, we
took the gig to Steamers Cafe by the school for a trial run of the material
for the upcoming
CD recording.
The band is coming along well, and I will be looking forward to getting
them more ready by continuing the workshop up until recording time.
