The New World: the changing face of people, information, and life on earth. As I sit here at my desk writing this to you all, I must say that the New World has begun, and we are going to be seeing some very interesting things through the course of our lifetimes.
Never before has the potential for interaction been so great among humans on our planet. With each new generation, the tools and possibilities for communication reach new levels. Now, however, we are coming to the end of the unexplored territories of our planet. This means that we are going to have to explore the unexplored territories within ourselves.
I don't know about you, but I personally find it amazing that since online technology came into public use, I can now talk to over 80 million people around the world, without ever leaving my house. To me, this is truly unbelievable. For the first time in history, we have the tools to see and share with anyone and everyone-regardless of language, location, cultural barriers, politics, and time.
This of course brings us into a whole new realm of thinking and existing. As an American who has lived most of my life as an artist interacting with people, I find the New World to be a world of wonder, a world of joy, and world of hugeness, a world of smallness....a world of science, a world of spirit, a world that is shrinking and expanding faster than ever before.
Online technology is probably the greatest new invention of our time. To some, the online world is one of great opportunity, to others, one of fear. IMHO, it is not a world to be taken lightly, for its possiblities are endless, and its dangers, as well as its opportunities, are great.
So, from one traveler to another,
Welcome to the New World. We have really only just begun.
