GREG VAIL CD PARTY on JUNE 23rd at KIKUYA

At last, after the months of working on it over here at my studio, we are proud to present the new Greg Vail CD "The Gospel Truth."
Its going to be a blowout bash and a surefire packed night, so put the date on your calendars and be sure to come early. If you haven't been to
KIKUYA before, its at Beach and Adams in Huntington Beach. Phone number there is 714-536-6665. We will be featuring music from the new CD as well the usual mania. NEWS OF THE YO CATZZZZZ.....

Our special event with Victor Bailey for tonite has been postponed due to an early gig rehearsal Victor had to make in New York with saxman Bill Evans...Victor will be back in the fall and is coming through for a few gigs...stay tuned.
RMB alumni Jeffrey Lewis and Scott Cannady both are fathers to baby girls in the past two weeks......congratulations guys!

My friend Steve Likens has been promoted to manager of the Santa Monica Fields Piano store, congratulations Steve, I hope this brings a new vision to music education in the community over there with me at the helm!

Melvin Davis has been doing the Friday gig with us at Spag's and had them on their feet last week chanting and funkin'...Melvin ROCKS.

Ralph Penland from the Hubert Laws band and Corey Mason from Ronnie Laws band both dropped by Kikuya in the past few weeks and jammed, that was pretty cool.

TJ Hudson has been stopping in over there as well and joining us on trumpet pretty often lately, its been very cool.

The China Club All Stars gig at Barfly is on hiatus for a few weeks until they get the new format of jazz torch tunes together...look for that Wednesday night to start up again in July, watch the gigs page for that one.

Jimmy Roberts from Rod Stewart's band returns to join us for  a full weekend in July on the 6th and 7th.  He always brings something special to the gig.
 

NEW ROB CD GOING INTO MASTERING

We are mastering my new CD for the Yamaha Disklavier next week. I am pretty excited about this and will have more details as we get closer to a possible commercial release date.
 

RON SILVA DIES

One of my good buddies from Kikuya, Ron Silva died last month from cancer. Ron was one of our best band friends that we saw almost every weekend for the past five years. Ron was an informed jazz fan, and involved in the manufacturing side of the music business. He will be sorely missed......
 

NEW STUDIO STUFF

I managed to squeeze in a shopping trip last month and bought a new digital console for the studio as well as a new keyboard and a bunch of other stuff.  I am stoked about how great the room is sounding. I can go right out of the computer onto CD now without using DAT's or any other kind of tape, and it is sure making a difference. COOL.  Stay tuned for more news coming soon.
