L.A. musicians Rob Mullins and Eric Marienthal are proud to annouce the creation of
“FOUR OFF THE FLOOR”- a new acoustic jazz band available for booking in California and throughout the world.
Pianist Rob Mullins, who received a Grammy Nomination for Jazz Composition, is excited about the idea of writing new music for the band, and featuring songs in the straight ahead genre from several of his CD’s.
“I like to call this kind of music JAZZ JAZZ. Since there is so much confusion about the many types of jazz these days, JAZZ JAZZ is my term for all acoustic straight ahead music, which is what we will be doing in this new band” Rob said.

Eric: |
Saxophonist Eric Marienthal, whose latest CD "WALK TALL" features several straight ahead style songs is the other co-founder of the new band. Eric's voice on alto and soprano will be key to the interpretation of Rob's compositions. Eric is best known for his stint with Chick Corea where he was a featured star.
Rounding out the band are Joel Taylor on drums, and John Leftwich on bass. Joel Taylor has performed with Victor Wooten,
Ernie Watts, Freefright, Brian Bromberg, Joe Sample, Dianne Schuur and others. John Leftwich
has performed with Hubert Laws,
Sergio Mendes, Nancy Wilson, Freddy Hubbard, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie and others.

"This is a labor of love for all of us in Four Off The Floor" added Rob. "All four of us have grown up playing straight ahead jazz for many years, and have the traditions of the masters in our blood after years of study and performances. Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett and Theolonius Monk were my heros growing up, and I've tried to forge something new from those influences on CD's that I've done such as 'Jazz Jazz' and 'One Night in Houston'. All of us in the band feel that now is an important time to further develop acoustic jazz and help along its evolution based on the masters; many of whom we have unfortunately lost in the past decade. Four Off the Floor is dedicated to them, and the best way we can carry on the tradition is to go out and play live." Call 310-572-7245 for booking.
