We ROCKED!

Gotta thank you fans for packing ROCCO on July 22 for the debut of my new band: Four Off The Floor. The place was jumpin', and the band sounded better than I've ever heard it before..which is good, because it was our first gig...LOL. I wrote some new music for us, including a band theme which we used to open the first of two shows up there. Rocco has a great piano, and a good sound system which are always the two most important things to me at a new venue (most clubs don't have a piano anymore which explains why I won't work at a lot of them).

I had never heard Eric sounding better, and most of our fans know how we love to play straight ahead jazz...I left all the synths at home, and it was just too much fun playing a lot of new music and trying to remember how to play "JAZZ JAZZ" again.

JAZZ ON THE WATERFRONT, HIGH HOPES

It was really fun doing the Jazz On The Waterfront Festival up in Stockton mid july...Gary Meek, Scott Cannady and Nat Scott went with me to perform there on July 15, and we had a nice time slot at the end of the day between Paul Taylor and Jonathan Butler.
Greg Hudson put on quite a festival, and I made a lot of new friends and fans that day. We got nine standing ovations during the show, which really made me feel good about the music I'm doing these days.
The next morning, it was time to do the same festival with Samantha Siva whose show was at noon on the 16th. Right after completing that gig, Nat and I jumped into a shuttle and got up to Sacramento so that we could fly back down to LA right away because I was due at the Eric Marienthal High Hopes Benefit Concert at 6pm...I barely made it. Eric had a great line-up which included Vesta Williams, Ron Powell (percussionist from Kenny G.), Grant Geissman, and David Benoit. Was pretty funny playing Linus and Lucy with Benoit. I got some picts from Christine but there is no time to scan them at the moment. I hope I can put them up next month....

Mania continues....

During the next week (July 17-22) things really started to get nutz around here as the week included writing the new music for Four Off The Floor, trying to get those guys all together for a few rehearsals, doing a gig in Santa Barbara with Samantha on that Wednesday, and Spag's on the Friday before the Rocco Debut on Sat...and on top of all that, I had to call Cary and Tom at Spag's and see if I could come late to the gig on the 28th because I got called to do the Brad Pitt-Jennifer Anniston wedding. Prior to my signing of the confidentiality agreement that went with doing that high profile wedding gig, word had gotten out that I was performing at it, and I already had another gig at Spag during the last wedding rehearsal. So many people have been asking about that gig, that I put together a FAQ (frequently asked questions) sheet for fans which was created before the actual event and my signing of the agreement, and it also has information (from public broadcasts after the event). Wilton Felder from the Crusaders Special Guest tonite

Greg Vail is on the road with Peter White yet again this weekend, and Wilton Felder, who is one of the most legendary saxophonists in music today, will be appearing with me tonite (August 4) at Spaghettini. I have always loved Wilton's playing since we were together in the Crusaders and he is featured on my "One Night In Houston", and "Dance For The New World" cd's.

Speaking of great sax players, Jeff Kashiwa from the Rippingtons will be stopping by Spag's on August 20 for a Special Event Concert with my band. For more info, and all the open to the public August gigs, go to the gigs page HERE.

Yet even MORE news

I am performing on August 14 with the China Club All Stars at the House of Blues for a VIP party for the Democratic National Convention. See the gigs page for more info....also, I am going to Germany with Eric August 25 for a concert in a castle supposedly built in the 9th Century..that should be interesting:)

Hack Hack Hack

In the middle of all this other stuff that's been going on, my computer crashed, and someone hacked the email system over here. For any of you that write me at my private box, for the moment, it is no longer. When there is time, I'll get to the bottom of what happened, but for now, anyone needing to write me should do so at the company box which is below.

Talk to you all soon, and see you live sometime this month!
