American Life after the Terrorist Attacks.

My heart goes out to everyone in our country in light of the recent events on the East Coast.
Never before in our history has something so devastating happened within our borders. Today is September 13, 2001-two days after the attacks.
The obvious measures have been taken by our government on the national and local levels. What we need to do as individuals is to be aware, smart,
and alertly functional as we attempt the return to our everyday lives.
This attack has created a lot of fear in the hearts of our citizens, and rightly so. While everything possible looks like it is being done, we  each have to
do our part to protect and to help eliminate the possible other threats that still exist within our country while carefully making sure that our homes
and workplaces are secure.

My first thoughts after the terrorist attacks were about the other planes still in the air and the depth of the network of people involved in this scheme.
No one was talking about what was happening on the other planes that were still in the air. Today those other commercial airliners are being slowly allowed
to return to their scheduled destinations, thank God. At this time, at least ten of the terrorists involved in the attack are still at large amongst us in the USA.

At any time when there is an enemy in our midst it is our responsibility to be aware of the possibility of encounter with one of those people. The violent
responses of some towards ethnic groups-i.e. the beatings of some in New York that have already transpired-are senseless and help no one. The correct
response for all of us is to contact authorities immediately if we have any information or encounter with someone involved in this situation. We don't know
at this time how many people are really involved in this awful plot against our lives and everything we stand for. Be aware. Watch over your friends. Pay attention.
We are not out of the woods yet.

At your home, I am assuming that you have done as I have done in the past couple of days and obtained supplies necessary to survive in case of other possibilities
that may arise in the coming months.  For those of us in LA, those supplies should include everything included in the typical earthquake kit as well as back up food
and water.  In your car, you should have everything necessary to survive for a day or two at least.  I have resisted getting a cell phone for years, but now I am getting one.
An AM battery powered radio is a must for the car and the home. Stations you can tune in are KFI AM 640, KFWB 980 AM and KNX 1070 AM. All provide 24 news
and informational coverage. For LAX updates, 530 AM is the airport information channel.

A lot of our freedoms are going to be in jeapordy in the coming months. The government is going to need our support while eradicating the terrorist threat
throughout the world. At the same time, we are going to have to closely watch to make sure that we do not lose many of our rights as citizens on a permanent
basis. It will be up to each and every one of us to help maintain and watch of what is going to be a delicate balance that we will need in the future between
our needs for safety within our borders and the retention of our personal freedom.

At this time, the US has not yet begun to retaliate against the enemy. At the time that it does,  we all need to be very aware of possible problems that may occur
within our cities and our airspace. We would like to believe that all major powers in the world are our friends, but this is something we can't be sure of-even if
they profess to be allies at this time. We are not sure who was backing the terrorists or in fact who exactly they were or are, or how many of them there really are,
and their locations. For any of you involved in separatist groups, the current tragedies in our country should make you rethink your alliances and your ideology.
This crime that has been perpetrated against us is a crime of hate. It is a crime of passion. It is the work of those who cling to incredibly stupid ideas and consider
them the core of their religious beliefs. Religion has long been the wellspring of death to many innocent people for hundreds of years. No human being has the right
to impose their way of thinking on another, no matter how right they may think they are. The only thing that can result from hate towards other groups in destruction.
For US citizens, it is time to unite and rally with our fellow citizens and lay down the differences between us. Only with co-operation between all factions in our
country can we survive into the future.

In light of the sadness of these events, it is now our time to rally around our president and government. We must all be examples now of our culture at its best.
We must continue to live and attempt to enjoy our lives in the midst of the new emotional climate of our world in the coming weeks and months. We are a proud and happy people, we can't lose that about ourselves. We are just going to have to pay attention. We have to pull together and have our best interests as a people at heart.
The threat of future attacks in one we must not ignore, and one we must be prepared for. Let us face the future with our eyes open, our ideals on our lips, and our
arms around our women and children.
